Accounts to 31 December 2024, filed 2025
Deliveroo or Uber Eats: The delivery app showdown: who is swallowing the biggest slice of the UK market?
It depends on whether you count revenue or people. Uber Eats UK Limited booked £1,330m of turnover in the year to December 2024, about 1.2 times the £1,127m at Roofoods Ltd, the company that trades as Deliveroo. Roofoods employed 2,062 people that year. Uber Eats UK employed 309.
Both file to the same date, neither set of accounts is consolidated, and both are wholly owned by a parent above them. What separates them is how much of the operation each UK company actually carries on its own books.

The takeaway
- Uber Eats UK books more UK revenue, £1,330m against £1,127m, and is growing it far faster, 18.8% against 2.6%.
- Roofoods carries the operation. It runs 2,062 employees and a £267m payroll, against 309 employees and £30m at Uber Eats UK.
- The two are moving in opposite directions on headcount, Roofoods down 4.4% over the year, Uber Eats UK up 25.6%.
- Roofoods pays more per head, £129,000 against £98,000, a gap of £31,000 on the average employee.
- Uber Eats UK reported an estimated £15m profit before tax, down from £18m. Roofoods reported an estimated £47m loss, widened from £18m.
Which company books more UK turnover, Deliveroo or Uber Eats?
Uber Eats UK Limited, by £203m. It reported £1,330m of turnover for the year to December 2024 against £1,127m at Roofoods, a ratio of about 1.2 to one. The direction of travel is the wider gap: Uber Eats UK grew turnover 18.8% over the year, Roofoods 2.6%.
Roofoods is the larger part of its own group but not all of it. Deliveroo Limited, the parent, reported consolidated turnover of £2,072m covering the whole international group, and the UK trading company accounts for about 54% of that. Those two Deliveroo figures should never be added, because the parent's consolidated line already contains Roofoods.
Neither company's turnover is the value of food ordered through the app. These are the revenue lines each company reports for its own activity, and the two sit under different activity codes at Companies House, Roofoods under web portals and Uber Eats UK under information technology services.
Why does Deliveroo's UK company employ nearly seven times as many people?
Because far more of the operation sits inside it. Roofoods reported 2,062 employees and £267m of staff costs. Uber Eats UK reported 309 employees and £30m. That is 6.7 times the headcount and 8.9 times the payroll, on turnover that is slightly smaller.
Put another way, every Roofoods employee is matched to about £0.5m of turnover. At Uber Eats UK the figure is about £4.3m, roughly 7.9 times as much. Payroll absorbs 23.7% of turnover at Roofoods and 2.3% at Uber Eats UK.
Neither number counts couriers, who are self-employed and do not appear as employees in either set of accounts. What the gap describes is head office, engineering, operations and commercial staff, and which corporate entity they are employed by.
The two are also moving apart. Roofoods headcount fell 4.4% over the year while Uber Eats UK rose 25.6%. Roofoods pays more per head, an average of £129,000 against £98,000, a gap of £31,000. For context within the Deliveroo group, the consolidated parent reports 3,760 employees at an average of £95,000.
Where does each £100 of turnover go?
To very different places. Of every £100 Roofoods turns over, £23.68 goes on payroll and £80.49 on everything else, which is £4.17 more than comes in. Of every £100 at Uber Eats UK, £2.26 goes on payroll and £96.62 on everything else, leaving £1.13 of profit.
The other striking line is financing. Roofoods paid £30m of interest during the year and received £30m, so the two net to nothing. Uber Eats UK reports no borrowings and no interest either way.

What does each company report on its own?
Three companies carry figures on this page. Two are on the Deliveroo side, one of them the consolidated parent, and one is on the Uber Eats side. The parent line already contains the subsidiary, so the Deliveroo rows are not additive.
| Company | Number | Turnover | PBT, est. | Employees | Net assets | Control |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|

| Roofoods Ltd | 08167130 | £1,127m | (£47m) | 2,062 | (£368m) | Owned outright by Deliveroo Limited |

Deliveroo Limited is the consolidated group line and already includes Roofoods, so the two Deliveroo rows must not be summed. Roofoods holds eight property titles, one freehold at Landmann Way in south east London and seven leaseholds, of which one, a ground floor at New College Parade in north west London taken in November 2021, carries a disclosed price paid of £0.1m. The rest show no disclosed price. Uber Eats UK Limited holds no registered property titles.
How were these figures put together?
From filed accounts at Companies House for the year to 31 December 2024, transcribed and checked line by line before anything was written.
- Matching periods
- Roofoods and Uber Eats UK both report to 31 December 2024, so no period adjustment applies. Roofoods filed in October 2025, Uber Eats UK in September 2025.
- Consolidation
- Roofoods and Uber Eats UK both file unconsolidated. Deliveroo Limited files consolidated and its figures already contain Roofoods, so subsidiary and parent lines are never added together.
- No combined totals
- Every figure on this page belongs to one company or expresses a relationship between the two, such as a ratio or a gap. No filed set of accounts contains both sides, so a combined total would describe no real entity.
- Estimated profit
- Profit before tax is an estimate derived from the filed accounts and is labelled as such throughout. Prior year figures are used only to show direction of travel.
- Employees
- Employee counts are the average for the financial year as reported by each company. Self-employed couriers are not employees and do not appear in either figure.
- Rounding
- Amounts of £2m and above are shown to the nearest million, amounts between £0.1m and £2m to one decimal place, and anything smaller in thousands. Per employee amounts are shown to one decimal place. Losses and negatives appear in brackets.
- Exclusions
- Uberreats Limited, 10246053, is dissolved, files no financials and its officer record shows no connection to the Uber group, so it is excluded. Just Eat entities were reviewed and fall outside this pairing.
Figures are rounded to protect the precision of the source filings. Companies House records the position as filed and does not verify it.
Deliveroo and Uber Eats: common questions
Uber Eats UK Limited. It reported turnover of £1,330m in the year to 31 December 2024, against £1,127m at Roofoods Ltd, the company that trades as Deliveroo in the UK. That is a gap of £203m, or about 1.2 times. Uber Eats UK grew turnover 18.8% over the year while Roofoods grew 2.6%.
Roofoods reported an average of 2,062 employees for the year to December 2024 and Uber Eats UK Limited reported 309, so Roofoods carried about 6.7 times the headcount. Neither figure counts self-employed couriers, who are not employees of either company. Roofoods headcount fell 4.4% over the year and Uber Eats UK headcount rose 25.6%.
No. Roofoods Ltd reported an estimated loss before tax of £47m for the year to December 2024, widening from a £18m loss the year before. Uber Eats UK Limited reported an estimated profit before tax of £15m, down from £18m. Both profit figures are estimates derived from the filed accounts.
Roofoods Ltd is owned outright by Deliveroo Limited, company number 13227665, which has been recorded at Companies House as controlled by DoorDash, Inc. since 2 October 2025. Eight directors resigned from Deliveroo Limited on that date, including founder William Shu, who had been a Roofoods director since 2012. Two directors were appointed the same day and now sit on both boards.
Uber Eats UK Limited is owned outright by Uber Uk Holding Company Limited, company number 13115631, recorded as holding 75% or more since 30 December 2022. The register names that UK holding company as the person with significant control and does not name a parent above it.
Both companies file to 31 December 2024 and neither set of figures is consolidated, so the periods match. Two differences matter. Roofoods files under the web portals activity code and Uber Eats UK files under information technology services, and the two businesses book their UK trade through different corporate structures. The figures are therefore a fair comparison of what each UK company reports, not of the two brands' total UK activity.
